Being an Au pair in an inexpensive way to travel, whilst also developing your skills and enhancing your CV. We have placements starting almost every week of the year and we accept applications all year round - so you can apply whenever you want!

Difference between Au Pair’s and Nannies

As an Au pair you’ll live with a family for a minimum of 6 months providing up to 35 hours of childcare per week and receive weekly pocket money, food and accommodation.

Bro Pair aka Male Au Pairs

Male Au Pairs aka “bro pairs” or "mannies" have become increasingly popular. Some host families who have all boys actually find that male Au pairs are better suited to their family’s needs. We invite anyone who loves working with children, meets the program and wants to travel to Australia to apply.

More information

Tax

Most Au Pairs are not required to pay tax if they are considered exempt under Fair Work rules. However if you wish to find part time work at a local café, or start working after you have finished your placement then you will need to pay 15% tax on the first dollar.

Time off

As part of your role, you’ll get a minimum of 1.5 days off a week. In this time you can do whatever you like, whether its chilling down at the beach, meeting friends for coffee/ brunch its totally up to you what you do! In some circumstances you can even work down at a local bar, restaurant or cafe to earn some extra money however we would always recommend that you check this with the host family first to ensure that it doesn’t interfere with your Au Pair role.

Other opportunities

Whilst you’re an AIFS Au Pair there will be lots of opportunities to get involved in the programme in different ways. You could become one of our social coordinators who organise monthly meets ups with Au pairs in their local areas. You could do one of our Instagram takeovers and tell past, future and current Au pairs how amazing your experience has been
