Au Pair in Australia is an amazing way experience the Australian way of life whilst living with an Australian family and caring for their children. You don't need formal childcare experience to apply - we require 200 hours of experience gained from babysitting, tutoring or other childcare and of course the maturity and common sense to care for children.
As part of an Australian family, you become part of their life and you are a part of theirs. Our Australian families are spread out all over each Australian Territory. If you wish, you may be placed in a larger city such as Sydney or Melbourne, a coastal beach area, or even an outback cattle station. You will get the choice of where you want to live and most importantly with which family that best suits you.
Au Pairs are not professional child care workers. However, you will need a genuine interest in caring for children and a cultural exchange program. Your responsibilities as an Au Pair are childcare & childcare related household duties, including:
You will have a set number of hours (up to 40 per week) so plenty of time off to relax and spend time with friends and explore your local area. We will put you in touch with other Au pairs in your area and in many capital cities we organise regular social events so you can meet other Au pairs.
AIFS is your support throughout your experience, from application to placement and every step of the Au Pair journey. You will have 24/7 emergency support plus a dedicated Community Counselor that you can call 24/7 (yes nights and weekends) for questions or advice.
Once you have completed your placement, you will enjoy full access to the services of AIFS Sydney where you can find work, get advice or book travel. We service close to 3,000 people every year and have access to exclusive travel deals and a wide range of backpacker style work.
